gospel change in the Great Plains
Confusing our identity

Image via Wikipedia
On the way to the upper room James and John became embroiled in a nasty spat with the rest of the disciples. Jesus had nicknamed these two sibling fishermen “Boanerges” or “sons of thunder,” which in today’s parlance might roughly translate to Bomb Heads. They had audaciously announced their ambition to secure spots #1 and #2 in the kingdom of God. For all they cared, everyone else could finish in a tie for third place. Servanthood was the least of the identities they craved.

I thought James and John were the first professional wrestling tag team… "SON'S OF THUNDER!!"
But on a serious note, I am sure that these two 'ambitious' men had good intentions in mind with their passion, but in the end that very passion caused them to turn back unto themselves. Just a perfect view of how truly evil bent we are…

Yeah, they walked around behind Jesus with their Tapout gear loud and proud. To me the most dangerous part is that we see it so clearly in them, but when we do it we think it's fine. This is why we need friends in our life who stick "closer than a brother" and pour gospel courage into our lives.
